Advance Manufacturing & Mechatronics Lab

About The Laboratory

Advanced Manufacturing & Mechatronics Laboratory is proud to complete 4 years of its existence. Since its establishment in Jan 2014 with transferring of two old CNC machines for retro fitment; it had a series of events like procurement of new equipments, new funded projects, various training and student project activities. One of our main objectives from the beginning of the lab was to make a base laboratory for the newly started program for M Tech in Production Engineering. Since then it a preferred destination for all the students and scholars interested in fabrication of any nature including Mechatronics. This really kept us on toes. The associated faculty, staff,  student and scholars have been taking responsibilities other than their academic/ professional work, e.g., helping other students in their ‘MAKER’  projects branding it a Makers Space along with their own academics and  research. In order to assess our progress and discuss our difficulties, we meet for about half an hour in a week, which is quite effective.

Teaching and  Research in  Lab

Advance Manufacturing & Mechatronics Laboratory supports the research activities in the areas of machining and machine tool systems. The lab houses a number state-of-the-science general purpose CNC machine tools for milling, turning, drilling, boring, micro-machining, advance finishing, electro discharge machining & grinding studies, as well as several special purpose setups. Lab also has a comprehensive array of sensors and data acquisition equipment that supports research on machine tool cutting dynamics, tool wear and tool life, machining feature part quality, machinability studies, motion control, high speed machining, machining fixture design, process monitoring & control, and innovative machine tool structures.
